Tips for Filing a Claim

Keep these tips in mind if a workplace accident occurs

REPORT THE CLAIM PROMPTLY

As soon as you have knowledge that an employee has been injured at work, report that claim to us right away.  Don't delay!  It helps to ensure the injured employee gets proper medical treatment right from the beginning.  Reporting an injury does not mean it's automatically a workers' compensation case.  We will complete an investigation to determine compensability if appropriate.  Even if it looks to be a medical only claim, or you've just had a notification, report that to us as well; sometimes those injuries turn into something more significant.  Prompt reporting is the first step in getting claim costs under control.

SECURE THE ACCIDENT SCENE

Be sure to preserve any evidence at the accident scene.  Take photos, particularly if equipment is involved, and contact A.I.M. Mutual's claim department.  Record the names and contact information for people who have witnessed the accident.  These steps will be invaluable in the claim investigation process.

GET STARTED WITH PHARMACY MANAGEMENT

Give the Temporary Prescription card to the employee as soon as you're able.  The card provides immediate access to our participating pharmacies and helps to manage prescription drugs and associated costs.  Employees benefit from a mail service program, 24-hour access to a registered pharmacist and no out-of-pocket expense.

STAY IN TOUCH

Be sure to check in with your injured worker frequently, right from the start. Your involvement is key to making him or her feel valued and needed back at work.
